On Wednesday, Oct. 27, City Link will publish its 16th annual Best Of issue, featuring our picks for the top people, places and things in South Florida. Before we unveil our selections, however, we want to hear from you. Visit City Link’s Best Of Readers’ Poll between now and Friday, Oct. 8 to vote for your favorite local nightclub, happy hour, pizzeria, band, blog and so much more. We’ll open the voting for a new category every couple of days. Cast your vote in the comment area at the bottom of each post.

Today’s ballot entry: BEST ROCK BAND.

Here’s what we said about last year’s winner, the JeanMarie:

“This band opened for the B-52’s at the Fillmore Miami Beach and Gym Class Heroes at Lynn University. And sometimes, its bass player wears a polar bear costume onstage. But what makes the JeanMarie truly entertaining is that its members seem to have no idea how good their band really is. A regular at Churchill’s Pub, the band often can be found in the back of the Little Haiti landmark drinking beer and jamming with fellow musician Rachel Goodrich. Vocalist Jordan Davidson describes the group’s sound as ‘brutal dance pop,’ and that notion travels across the dance floor when everyone in the room is leaping up and down in unison to ‘Bombs!’ one of the many upbeat tunes on the band’s album Annie Jump Cannon.”

The JeanMarie has since moved to Philadelphia, so the race for this category is wide open. Vote now!
